SPECTRE is super stable and easy to control in Angle mode, but switch into Acro and it becomes a compact, lively FPV aircraft built for shooting tree gaps, tight proximity lines and low-level hooning. The current reference setup stays around 215 g with DJI O4 Wide, while the TWIST-derived wing geometry keeps the aircraft approachable enough to learn on without making it something you quickly outgrow.

Modular design

Modular by design.

SPECTRE is designed to come apart cleanly rather than relying on permanent wing joints. Each wing panel locates around the main carbon rod and printed WingLoc tabs, then secures with nylon M3 hardware. The result is a more modular airframe that is easier to transport, easier to build around, and much easier to service.

Wing engineering

The stability is designed into the wing.

SPECTRE combines progressive wing twist with a tractor-prop layout that deliberately blows the inboard wing. The outer sections run at progressively lower local incidence to keep tip loading under control as angle of attack rises, while the propellers increase airflow over the inner wing whenever power is applied.

Progressive washoutThe tip sections operate at a lower local angle of attack than the inner wing, helping keep the low-speed break more progressive.
Blown inboard wingPropwash raises local airflow over the inner wing under power, adding lift at airspeeds where the unblown wing would otherwise be close to the stall.
Throttle as lift controlAdding power can arrest sink and increase low-speed lift almost immediately, letting the pilot power out of a poor approach or feather the aircraft into the landing.

Current reference build

Core electronics.

The current SPECTRE reference build uses the lightweight 2S twin-motor setup below with a FlyingRC F4 Mini. Both the Flywoo Explorer 750 mAh and 1000 mAh 2S 80C LiHV packs are validated battery options; the 1000 mAh pack is used for the ~215 g reference BOM. Other suitable mini fixed-wing flight controllers can be installed where the physical layout and required I/O match, but their wiring and firmware configuration are board-specific.

Built around the mini fixed-wing FC class.

SPECTRE can accommodate compact fixed-wing controllers including the Core Wing F405 Mini V2, SpeedyBee F405 Wing Mini, Matek F405-WMO, Holybro mini fixed-wing boards and comparable mini wing FCs where footprint, connector access and the required inputs/outputs suit the installation.

The supplied SPECTRE INAV diff-all CLI is for the validated FlyingRC F4 Mini reference setup. Board orientation, firmware target, UART/port mapping, motor and servo outputs, power distribution and INAV settings must be configured for the specific controller installed.

Reference total: approximately 215 g with the Flywoo Explorer 1000 mAh pack. The Flywoo Explorer 750 mAh 2S 80C LiHV is also a validated SPECTRE battery option and is roughly 10 g lighter. Typical sport-flight time is approximately 7 minutes on 750 mAh and 9 minutes on 1000 mAh. Finished-aircraft mass and CG should still be verified by the builder.

How much does SPECTRE weigh?

The current BOM totals approximately 215 g with the Flywoo Explorer 1000 mAh 2S reference battery. The validated 750 mAh Flywoo Explorer pack is roughly 10 g lighter. Builders should still weigh and balance the completed aircraft.

Are the wings removable?

Yes. The revised platform uses removable wings rather than a permanently glued wing joint.

Will more FPV systems be supported?

Yes. Additional video systems are planned, and WUDFLY will also add more validated board-specific flight-controller configurations over time. The airframe itself already targets the broader mini fixed-wing FC class.
